The Wonderfully Long Life of an IPod Battery

Remy Jirek

Introduction
One of the best features on an iPod is its battery. A fully charged battery can last anywhere from 8 hours to up to an amazing 20 hours, depending on the model. The battery is charged by plugging the device into the computer, either by way of a USB port or attachment. If your battery loses the ability to recharge, you can visit an iPod accessory store to get additional batteries and other accessories. Some manufacturers will replace the battery for a small fee, but be careful because this may void the warranty on your unit.

The iPod battery was built to last. The iPod charges by plugging directly into the computer. Some models come with a USB port to charge the battery. Some models plug directly into the computer via a USB attachment. The iPod battery life varies between models but it is generally around eight hours. Some models, however, boast an iPod battery life of up to twenty hours. This allows a person to listen to their iPod at their heart's content without having to constantly having to worry about the battery going dead.

Of course, as with any lithium battery, sometimes the iPod battery can lose its recharge ability. If this happens, just contact the manufacturer of your iPod and they will likely replace the battery for you. They may charge a small fee but anyone who has an iPod knows that the money will be well worth it.

Though you can change the battery yourself, it is generally not advisable as it can void the warranty. You will have to open the case yourself. Some companies sell off brand batteries for iPods. Again, this is inadvisable as the manufacturer will not validate any warranty on a product that has been tampered with.

Your iPod Holds Your Information

If your iPod battery does go dead and it won't charge, the good news is that you won't lose any of your information. All of your music, videos and movies will continue to be stored on your iPod's memory. After your battery is replaced, you will again be able to listen to your favorite songs or playlists for as long as you want or at least until the battery needs to be recharged again.

Built to Last

The iPod battery is built to last a very long time, however. The iPod battery is meant to last as long as you can listen to your music. With iPods holding so much information nowadays, that makes for a lot of listening time.

The great part about the iPod battery is that it is internal and usually never needs changing. A good idea to keep your iPod battery charged all the time is to plug it in when you go to sleep at night. That way, when you wake up, you'll have a fully charged battery to listen to all your favorite songs all throughout the day. By plugging the iPod battery in at night, you can ensure that you'll have plenty of juice in your iPod to hear all your favorite songs or watch your favorite videos and movies until you're ready for bed again. With such a long battery life, however, you might not be ready for bed anytime soon.
